Isn't mamiya making a version of the rz still? Is the Mamiya AF 645 still in production, or is this camera only with a digitalback?Īs a Nikon shooter i'd say F6, but as i like the classic looks of the Fuji GF667 i choose the latter. Lots of high quality film cameras are still being made.

Not many film cameras of high quality are made today. The also sell the already mentioned Mamiya 7ii. The RB67 is still being sold, despite being superseded by the RZ67 which fulfils much of the same purpose. Mamiya are still making or at least selling several MF cameras. Otherwise just slap a Leica logo on a disposable camera -) But if you, like me, are interested in such a camera then B&H Photo has the F6 "In Stock". There aren't very many buyers walking into shops looking for a $2500 camera that can only shoot 36 pictures at a time. For every F6 that is sold Nikon probably sells a billion D700s. Mario*herrera edited this topic ages ago.īecause camera shops only stock items they can make money on. I call my Bronica RF645 "Leica on steroids" and let me tell you: It And that's not an exaggeration, the photo below was shot wide open with the Bronica RF645 at F4. The lens is so sharp, it's waaay sharper than my Hasselblad Distagon. I think "the best" film camera ever made is the Mamiya 7 a camera still in production and that I will probably never own, it goes for about $3,700.Ī couple of months ago, I stumbled upon a Bronica rangefinder "similar" to the Mamiya 7 but in 645 format instead of 6x7, for a fraction of the cost ($650) the Bronica yields 16 beautiful negatives with the included 65mm F4 lens. Voigtlander Bessa III 667 (aka Fujifilm GF670) How come you can't find them in camera shops any more? And Whisky says it's not.Īpart from all kind of toy and disposal cameras : The F6 is still being made in very small quantities. We've been through this before in the last "what's the best film camera" thread. "The Nikon F6 is still being manufactured?" "which is the best film camera made today?"

The Unbearable Lightness Of Being Rick says: You confusing it with the cheap arse Voigtlander rangefinders, they ain't the same inside or outside. Rolleiflex still makes a couple of TLR's but its price range is super high.Ĭosina's Zeiss Ikon is not plastic, it's metal inside Hello. They also have the Natura, Klasse S and Klasse W, now why can't Kodak make something comparable to that? No wonder Kodak is in the dumps. It has nothing new to offer, unlike a Nikon F6 compared to a Nikon FM.įujifilm followed it up with the GF670W just this Oct. My point is that a modern well made MF folding film camera, still in production, has a lot of competition from the very capable cameras of the past. Not new, but for a grand less, and f/2.8 tessar instead of f/3.5 lens, it's a good alternative for a folding med format camera. That GF670 looks great, but at $1600, I would opt for a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 533/16. Even though there are only a few film cameras in production, they still cover the gamut from 35mm to large format. Something by Arca Swiss on a monorail would do it for me.ĭefine 'best'. Jg_in_seattle edited this topic ages ago. So is the Mamiya 7II, a pretty awesome medium format film camera. Last I heard (2010), Leica MP and M7 are still being made. The Leica R9 was discontinued in 2009, according to en./wiki/Leica_R9 That leaves the Leica R9 as the most expensive candidate. more likely they have a small amount of inventory parked inside one of their warehouses. I am just googling these for prices - please correct them if anyone knows how much they average these days.Ĭan anyone add some other semi-serious cameras to that list? How about a list of 'still made' medium format or large format cameras? Luckily the 'still available on ebay' list is much longer.

skipping the plastic lenses, toy cameras, disposables, and compacts and focusing on the pro level SLRs there seems to be:Ĭanon EOS 1V HS ($1700 US at B&H / body only!) (still made?) I don't know, it seems like Cosina is now the big boy in town.zink shell and plastic innards and all.

The Nikon F6 is still being manufactured? I'm sort of coveting a HorizonT myself though. I am a fan of Zeiss Ikon, but if I had the money, Leica MP would be my choice.Īre these really the only film cameras still in production? I don't think so.įuji seems to always have some sort of interesting-looking medium format camera available. I know that the Zeiss Ikon mentioned earlier and Leica are still made. Does Canon or Nikon still make film bodies? I think the F6 might be in production, but not sure. If you google this question, you will be seriously dissapointed. It's not much fun parachuting with a shen-hao. Oh wait, that company has been dead for yearsįlip a coin between the Leica R9.
